Apple spent $700 million on three failed movies

Apple has suffered huge losses due to failed investments in big-budget movies, relying on the former merits of prominent Hollywood directors.

It is claimed that the total investment in the films Napoleon, Killers of the Flower Moon and Argyle exceeded $700 million dollars, excluding promotion costs. That said, all three failed at the box office. That trio earned a total of $466 million at the worldwide box office, with “Napoleon” leading the way with $221 million, followed by “Killers of the Flower Moon” ($157 million) and “Argyle” ($88 million).

Unlike rival streaming service Netflix, however, Apple sees value in theatrical distribution to increase the visibility of its movie projects.
